FICE Awards and Scholarships

to your business. The Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers (FICE)
encourages your nominations for the following awards programs.
The FICE Engineering Excellence Awards program is designed
to recognize outstanding contributions to the consulting engineering
profession through comprehensive evaluation of projects by a distinguished
panel of experts in related fields. The top winners at the
state level proceed to the national competition administered by the
American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), where they will
compete for, among other awards, the coveted Grand Conceptor Award.

FICE Outstanding Project Awards
The Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers (FICE) annually recognizes outstanding achievement by its member firms in accomplishing Florida transportation projects. Firms are nominated for awards in seven project award categories: Outstanding Major Project, Outstanding Design-Build or CM at Risk Project, Outstanding Roadway Project, Outstanding Bridge Project, Outstanding PD&E / Planning Project, Outstanding Environmental Project and Outstanding Special Project. Nominations for each award category may be submitted annually by each of the seven FDOT Districts, Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise and by the Central Office. The FICE Outstanding Projects Awards Committee is comprised of FDOT and FICE representatives and selects the winner in each of the seven project categories.
A.W. Gilchrist Award
Governor A.W. Gilchrist Award is presented to a Florida-registered professional engineer who has brought recognition to the profession through public office and/or civic leadership with significant participation in FICE and other professional and technical activities and societies. Winners can showcase your expertise, be seen as a pillar of the community, and be recognized by your peers for your professional contribution. CLICK

FICE Professional Development Award recognizes firms considered to be the best "industry model" for professional development of its technical staff, and one that encourages participation by its engineers in professional and technical societies, civic activities and in continuing education. Two firms may receive this award – one from a large firm (51 employees or more) and one from a small firm (50 employees or fewer). Being an award winning firm can be:

FICE Community Service Award recognizes FICE members for their accomplishments in community service. Winning individuals can:
- Be recognized for your contribution to your community
- Be seen as a leader in your firm.

FICE Florida Scholarship
The FICE scholarship will honor one Florida college student expressing interest and commitment to the business and management of the engineering profession. To qualify, a student must be a U.S. citizen pursuing a bachelor’s in an ABET-approved engineering program or in an accredited land-surveying program. Students must be entering their junior, senior, fifth or master's year of college to qualify.
One statewide winner will be determined, and awarded a FICE scholarship in the amount of $5,000. Top two scholarship applicants will be forwarded to national for consideration for the ACEC general scholarships, and a third for students enrolled in a master’s degree program for structural engineering. The name of the member organization on the application is FICE/ACEC of Florida. Applications are due by March 6, 2017 to FICE/ACEC of Florida.

Recognizes outstanding personal efforts on the part
of its recipient to advance the technical and professional practice
of geotechnical engineering firms in Florida for a minimum of ten

Young Professional of the Year Award and New Faces of Engineering
The Young Professional of the Year Award strives to promote the accomplishments of young engineers by highlighting their engineering contributions and the resulting impact on society. The campaign is designed to enhance and improve the image of engineering by recognizing young, diverse and talented engineers, thereby portraying engineering as an exciting profession open to everyone.
Annual nominees for the Young Professional of the Year Award may also be entered in the annual National Engineers’ Week “New Faces of Engineering” competition which includes a full page USA Today advertisement highlighting accomplished young engineers from throughout the nation. Nominations for ACEC Members are made only through the ACEC Committee of Fellows. All nominees must submit their applications to the ACEC Committee of Fellows, not to National Engineers Week headquarters. Deadline for 2017 Nominations is November 20, 2016.
