Professional Development Committee
Study and make recommendations to the Board with respect to the professional development of engineers. Receive comments, suggestions, and recommendations of engineers and study the impact of all Society policies and activities with relation to all engineers. Counsel with representative groups of engineers, engineering educators and engineering employers in order to understand and appreciate their problems and concerns for professional development. Establish and maintain a program promoting continued professional development. Coordinate and monitor all workshops, seminars and other educational programs sponsored or co-sponsored by the Society, or its functional sections, to insure their acceptability under the professional development program and continuation of the program's recognition and objectives. Keep the Board informed of committee activities. Prepare and present a written summary report at the Society's Annual Meeting covering the committee's activities during the year. Prepare and submit for the consideration of the Budget Committee, and the review and approval of the Board of Directors, a plan of activities, programs and projects that the committee proposes to undertake during the administrative year. The committee's plan should include a description, time schedule, and budget of anticipated expenses and revenue for each proposed activity, program and project. Study and make recommendations to the Board or Executive Committee with respect to the issuance of Certificates of Continued Professional Development. The committee shall maintain all records, review all applications and make recommendations to the Board or the Executive Committee as to the acceptability of information submitted by applicants for consideration. Upon approval by the Board or Executive Committee, the committee will be responsible for the issuance of a suitable citation prepared and presented to the applicant as expeditiously as practicable.
