The purpose of the commission is to provide the Florida Engineering Society with maximum participation in and proper coordination of its legislative and government relations program. The commission will be composed of the chairmen of the following committees: Constructed Environment, Conversation and Environmental Quality, Energy, Professional Concerns, Education, and "Minuteman," and six at-large members nominated by the President of FES and approved by the Board of Directors. The chairman of the FICE Legislative Committee shall also be a member of the commission. The chairman of the commission will be the FES Vice President of Public Affairs. Responsibilities of the commission include periodic review of the efforts of the committees within the Division of Public Affairs and the development of recommendations to the FES Board as to proposed positions on legislative and government relations issues and priorities for accomplishment. The commission shall be responsible for drafting and seeking introduction of and developing support for the passage of legislation or the adoption of rules that impact the health, safety, and welfare of the public or affect the engineering profession. The commission will insure coordination with other professions, organizations, and interest groups and enlist their cooperation and support in legislative and administrative measures of mutual interest or concern.
