Conservation & Environmental Quality (CEQ)
Study and make recommendations to the Board with respect to the improvement and preservation of Florida's environment. Establish contact and provide liaison with civic groups and governmental agencies which have a vital interest in or responsibility for conservation and environmental quality. Prepare studies and make recommendations to the Board on policies or positions that would be appropriate for the Society to adopt and promote in the public interest on projects that would appreciably affect the quality of Florida's environment. Keep the Board informed of committee activities. Prepare and present a written summary report at the Society's Annual Meeting, covering the committee's activities during the year. Assume the responsibility for evaluating, screening, and preparing Society commends and/or positions on: Proposed rules and regulations of State regulatory agencies having conservation and environmental responsibilities. Conservation and environmental legislation. Specific projects proposed for implementation which are deemed to have substantial environmental impact. Also to make recommendations or positions on environmental matters which are to be submitted to the Board of Executive Committee for approval if time permits; if time does not permit such submittal, the Committee Chairman has the authority to take a position on behalf of the Society without prior approval. Prepare and submit for the consideration of the Budget Committee, and the review and approval of the Board of Directors, a plan of activities, programs, and projects that the committee proposes to undertake during the administrative year. The committee's plan should include a description, time schedule, and budget of anticipated expenses and revenues for each proposed activity, program, and project.
