Statement about MATHCOUNTS programming during the coronavirus/COVID-19 outbreak
The MATHCOUNTS national office has decided to cancel all remaining state competitions this year due to the coronavirus/COVID-19 outbreak. That means the Florida MATHCOUNTS State Competition originally scheduled for March 20, 2020 has been cancelled.
The MATHCOUNTS national office is working on an alternate method for determining the national competitors and will make an announcement about this no later than March 31, 2020. A statement about the decision, as well as future updates, will be posted at www.mathcounts.org/competition. Please direct any questions or concerns about this decision to the MATHCOUNTS national office at email@example.com.

Introduction to MATHCOUNTS®
MATHCOUNTS is one of the country's largest and most successful education partnerships involving volunteers, educators, industry sponsors and students. MATHCOUNTS programs involve students and teachers in year-long coaching sessions and help middle school students at all learning levels improve their problem-solving skills. Materials are currently distributed to every middle school in the U.S., impacting the lives of over 250,000 U.S. middle school students annually.
The Florida Engineering Society (FES) is proud to have sponsored Florida MATHCOUNTS since it's origination in 1983. In Florida, participating middle schools compete individually or as part of a team in one of nineteen FES Chapter MATHCOUNTS Competitions held in February. The size of the chapter competitions are steadily increasing as FES strives to make it more exciting and fun, and include greater numbers of students than the previous year.
