The Annual Conference Steering Committee shall be responsible for the planning, promotion, and conduct of the annual conference. Members of the committee are asked to select a site for the conference, plan agenda, and select speakers.

The Awards Committee shall be responsible for the establishment of criteria for FES awards. Members of the committee are asked to solicit nominees, score applications, and make recommendations to the Board of Directors for winners.

The Budget Committee shall study and make recommendations to the Board ways and means of improving the financial condition and operation of the Society.

The Charter and Bylaws Committee shall review and make recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding changes to the Charter and Bylaws. In addition, the committee maintains the Society’s Administrative & Professional Policies. Members review and make recommendations to the Board on all new and existing Chapter Bylaws.

The Commission on Legislative & Government Relations is responsible for drafting and seeking introduction of and developing support for the passage of legislation or the adoption of rules that impact the health, safety, and welfare of the public or affect the engineering profession.

The Conservation & Environment Quality Committee shall study and make recommendations to the Board with respect to the improvement and preservation of Florida's environment.

The Constructed Environment Committee shall study and make recommendations to the Board with respect to matters relating to the constructed environment. In that regard, the committee shall prepare studies and make recommendations to the commission on legislation, administrative rules, or governmental policies on matters relating to the constructed environment that would be appropriate for the Society to adopt and promote.

The Energy Committee shall be concerned with energy matters that affect the public and the profession. Members of the committee are asked to make recommendations to the Commission on Government and Legislative Affairs on legislative issues dealing with energy.

The Ethical Practices Committee shall be concerned with the ethical standards of the profession and the means to maintain and advance them. Members of the committee are asked to investigate reports of ethical violations of the Society’s members either received from FBPE/FEMC or from individuals.

The Florida Engineers in Education or FEE is one of the five practice sections of the Florida Engineering Society representing those members who are engaged in teaching, research, or administration in the field of education. Any member of FES may participate in the activities of this section subject to the FEE Rules of Government and Operations.

The Florida Engineering Leadership Institute (FELI) was created with the mission to transition engineering professionals into community professionals and leaders within our societies, communities, and workplaces. Through its initial 10-month class, FELI enhances the leadership skills of its participants and sets out a clear pathway to put these skills into practice serving our profession and our communities.

The K-12 Committee shall be concerned with promoting the engineering profession to students in grades K-12. Members of the committee are asked to form relationships with contacts in the local school system, provide volunteers with presentation materials/tools, and develop/lead the local K-12 Committee.

The Leadership Advisory Committee shall study and make recommendations to the FES Board of Directors with respect to the organization, management, activities and procedures of chapters, including new chapters and reorganization of existing chapters and provide guidance, assistance and encouragement to chapter officers and committees in establishing and conducting activities, programs and projects to serve the needs of the chapter members and the public which they serve.

The MATHCOUNTS© Committee shall plan, promote and organize the annual MATHCOUNTS© Competition.

The Membership Development Committee shall be concerned with increasing and retaining membership in the society. Members of the committee are asked to distribute monthly roster to officers and members, update chapter about current membership projects, and display membership information meetings and events.

The Nominating Committee shall make recommendations to the FES Board of Directors for nominees for the NSPE SE Regional Director’s positions and all officers of the Society except State Directors and Practice Section chairs. In addition, the committee shall make recommendations to the Governor’s Appointment Board for nominees for positions to the Florida Board of Professional Engineers.

The Professional Concerns Committee shall be concerned with legislative proposals that may affect the practice of engineering. Members of the committee are asked to review and make recommendations to the CLGR regarding legislative or administrative proposals that might affect the practice of the engineering profession.

The Professional Development Committee shall be concerned with the professional development of engineers. Members of the committee are asked to establish a seminar schedule at least one year out, review evaluations from previous year, and assist with planning, selecting speakers, and organizing seminars.

The Public Relations Committee shall study, develop, and make recommendations to the FES Board for projects, programs, and activities to be undertaken to increase the public’s knowledge and image of the engineering profession.

The Scholarship Committee shall be concerned with the administration, promotion, evaluation and nomination of scholarships. Members of the committee are asked to solicit nominees through working with local schools and issuing press releases, as well as score applications to determine recipients.

The Student Professional Development Committee shall be concerned with the establishment and operation of student chapters. Members of the committee act as a liaison between the student and the parent chapter, maintain contact with students, and the faculty advisor.
