Mark Van Hala Wins 2019 Professional Engineer in Government Achievement and Service in the United States (PEGASUS) Award
Engineer Mark D. Van Hala received the 2019 Professional Engineer in Government Achievement and Service in the United States (PEGASUS) Award. The PEGASUS Award recognizes the engineer who has made the most outstanding contribution to the advancement and practice of engineering.
After retiring with thirtysix years ofpublic service, Engineer Markserves as Professional Engineer at Dave Schmitt Engineering, Inc.He public service included Sumter County Engineer, Public Works Director for both the Cities of Fort Walton Beach and Saint Cloud, Assistant Public Works Director of the City of Yumaand an Orange County Professional Engineer.
Lieutenant Commander Van Hala is also Patriot; he retired from the United States Naval Reserve. Patriot Mark served in the Civil Engineer Corps.On Veterans’ Day and Order of the Engineer Ceremonies, he wears his service uniform to remember and honor our Patriots.
