Florida Engineering Scholarship Opportunities

FES offers several scholarship programs for students interested in pursuing careers in engineering. Volunteers are needed to assist with the chapter and state selection processes. Please contact us if you are interested in volunteering.

Florida Engineering Foundation, Inc. Funds $36,000 in Engineering Scholarships for the 2019-2020 School Year!

2020 Scholarship Recipients

The Florida Engineering Society scholarships are generously funded by the Florida Engineering Foundation, Inc. (FEF). Established in 1986, FEF is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit entity whose mission is to encourage and assist students in pursuing engineering careers and to educate the public about engineering. Furthermore, the Florida Engineering Foundation, Inc. promotes and enhances engineering education in Florida in order to position our state as a technological leader in the global economy.

Florida Engineering Society scholarships inspire and encourage the pursuit of an education focused on engineering. These scholarships are made possible by the generous tax deductible contributions of Florida Engineering Society members, private companies and the general public to the Florida Engineering Foundation, Inc.

High School Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a high school senior.
  • Have been enrolled in one semester and will graduate from a FL school.
  • Be a citizen or permanent resident (green card holder) of the United States at the time of application.
  • Have at least a 3.5 grade point average based on a 4.0 scale.
  • Attain a minimum test score on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), or the American College Testing Program (ACT). The minimum scores, listed on page two are used as a minimum threshold level, with actual test scores being weighted into the scoring process.
  • Enroll in an engineering program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
  • Certified transcript (unopened) must be included with the application.
  • A copy of the official IB, AICE & AP test score sheet must be included with the application.Complete Certification Sheet tab within excel application file.

Each electronic application package received from an applicant should include:

  • A USB drive with the applicants completed EXCEL spreadsheet application (Form B) saved on it. Note: these will not be returned to the student.
  • A sealed, certified transcript (unopened) (both high school and college, if they took college classes).
  • Applicant’s Certification and Permission to Release Information forms printed and completed.
  • Counselor’s or Principal’s Certification form, printed and completed.
  • A copy of all exam results.
  • Verification of GPA.

University Scholarships

To be eligible, a candidate must have:

  • Entering his/her Sophomore/Junior/Senior year in an ABET accredited Engineering Program.
  • At least 3.0 grade point average on 4.0 scale.
  • Recommendation by an engineering faculty member.
  • US citizen or permanent resident (green card holder).
  • If the student is attending an out of state program, at least one parent must be a registered FES member for at least a minimum of one year.

Named Scholarships

The Named Scholarships are awarded through the Florida Engineering Foundation, Inc. Please use the University Scholarships application for the named scholarships. If you have already submitted a University Scholarship application, we will also consider you for the named scholarships.

ACEC-FL Scholarships

We're Passionate About Engineering Education, Help Us Help a Future Engineer.

Do you know a junior, senior, fifth, master's or PhD student who is enrolled in an ABET-accredited engineering or surveying program? Please let them know that ACEC-FL offers a $5,000 scholarship. Recipients of the awards will be evaluated in work experience, extra-curricular and community activity, references, grade point average, and a written essay.

The ACEC-FL scholarship recipient will be forwarded to ACEC for consideration for ACEC Scholarships.

FECON Scholarships

The Florida Professional Engineers in Construction are pleased to announce the availability of a scholarship to be awarded for the 2020-2021 school year. An applicant must:

  • Be currently enrolled or accepted into a Florida university engineering program
  • Be in or entering his/her junior or senior year
  • Have at least a 3.0 average on a 4.0 scale
  • Be recommended by an engineering faculty member
  • Be interested in pursuing a career in the field of construction

If no qualified applications are received, FECON reserves the right not to award a scholarship.The selection of the scholarship recipient is made by the FECON Administrative Committee and is final.

FPEG Fellowships

The Florida Professional Engineers in Government are pleased to announce the availability of a $1,000 fellowship. To be eligible an applicant must:

  • Be eligible to be a member of the Florida Engineering Society.
  • Be employed by a government agency in an engineering position.
  • Be enrolled in or accepted by a graduate program to obtain an advanced degree in engineering, engineering management, public administration, public works administration or business administration (copy of acceptance letter).

If no qualified applications are received, FPEG reserves the right not to award a fellowship or to select a winner from the applications received by the FES scholarship committee. Preference will be given to upper division engineering students with an interest in working for a government agency.
