Florida Engineering Society Scholarship Opportunities

FES offers several scholarship programs for students interested in pursuing careers in engineering. Volunteers are needed to assist with the chapter and state selection processes. Please contact us at fes@fleng.org or 850-224-7121 if you are interested in volunteering.

Florida Engineering Foundation, Inc. Funds $36,000 in Engineering Scholarships for the 2023-2024 School Year!

All scholarships are merit-based.

2023 Scholarship Recipients

The Florida Engineering Foundation (FEF)  generously funds Florida Engineering Society scholarships as part of its work to position our state as a technological leader in the global economy. Established in 1986, FEF is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit entity whose mission is to encourage and assist students in pursuing engineering careers and to educate the public about engineering. Florida Engineering Society scholarships inspire and encourage the pursuit of an education focused on engineering.

These scholarships are made possible by the generous tax-deductible contributions of Florida Engineering Society members, private companies, and the general public to the Florida Engineering Foundation, Inc.

High School Scholarships

2023 Scholarship Recipients

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a high school senior.
  • Have been enrolled in one semester and will graduate from a Florida school.
  • Be a citizen or permanent resident (green card holder) of the United States at the time of application.
  • Have at least a 3.5 grade point average based on a 4.0 scale.
  • Attain a minimum test score on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), or the American College Testing Program (ACT). The minimum scores, listed on page two are used as a minimum threshold level, with actual test scores being weighted into the scoring process.
  • Enroll in an engineering program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
  • A certified transcript (unopened) must be included with the application.
  • A copy of the official IB, AICE & AP test score sheet must be included with the application. Complete the Certification Sheet tab within the Excel application file.

Each application package received from an applicant should include:

  • The applicant’s completed Excel spreadsheet application. (If submitting a hard copy, the application must be on a USB drive that will not be returned to the student.)
  • A certified transcript (both high school and college, if they took college classes).
  • Applicant’s Certification and Permission to Release Information forms printed and completed.
  • Counselor’s or Principal’s Certification form, printed and completed.
  • A copy of all exam results (the official IB, AICE & AP test score sheet.)

Students who meet the eligibility requirements should download and complete the 2023-2024 High School Scholarship Application and send it to your local Chapter Representative postmarked by February 15, 2024, or submit it online using the FES High School Scholarship Submittal Form by the same date.

University Scholarships

2023 Scholarship Recipients

To be eligible, a candidate must meet the following criteria:

  • Undergraduate student in an ABET-accredited engineering program. Expected graduation will be at least 2 semesters from the date of application.
  • At least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
  • Recommendation by an engineering faculty member.
  • US citizen or permanent resident (green card holder).
  • If the student is attending an out-of-state program, at least one parent must be a registered FES member for at least a minimum of one year.

Each application package received from an applicant should include:

  • The applicant’s completed Excel spreadsheet application. (If submitting a hard copy, the application must be on a USB drive that will not be returned to the student.)

  • A Faculty Recommendation Letter (to be mailed by hard copy to the Chapter Representative.)

Named Scholarships

The Named Scholarships are awarded through the Florida Engineering Foundation, Inc. Please use the University Scholarships application for the named scholarships. If you have already submitted a University Scholarship application, we will also consider you for the named scholarships.

Cesar A. Calas/FES Miami Chapter Scholarship

  • Attend an accredited College of higher learning and enrolled in an engineering program approved by the Florida Engineering Society scholarship committee
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Maintain 12 credit hours per semester
  • Exemplary citizenship standards
  • Permanent (non-school) residence in Miami-Dade or Monroe County

David F. Ludovici Scholarship

  • Enrolled full-time in an ABET-accredited Florida engineering school
  • Interested in Civil, Structural, or Consulting Engineering

Eric Primavera Memorial Scholarship

  • Enrolled full-time in an ABET-accredited Florida engineering school
  • Preference will be given to students desiring to attend the Florida Institute of Technology

Raymond W. Miller, PE and Alice E. Miller Scholarship

  • Enrolled full-time in an ABET-accredited Florida engineering school.
  • Preference will be given to students desiring to attend the University of Florida.

Raymond W. Miller, PE Scholarship

  • Undergraduate student in an ABET-accredited engineering program. Expected graduation will be at least 2 semesters from the date of application.
  • At least a 3.0-grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
  • Recommendation by an engineering faculty member.
  • US citizen or permanent resident (green card holder).
  • If the student is attending an out-of-state program, at least one parent must be a registered FES member for at least a minimum of one year.

Richard B. Gassett, PE Scholarship

  • Undergraduate student in an ABET-accredited engineering program. Expected graduation will be at least 2 semesters from the date of application.
  • At least a 3.0-grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
  • Recommendation by an engineering faculty member.
  • US citizen or permanent resident (green card holder).
  • If the student is attending an out-of-state program, at least one parent must be a registered FES member for at least a minimum of one year.

Henn Rebane Scholarship

  • Enrolled full-time in an ABET-accredited Florida engineering school.
  • Preference will be given to electrical engineering students.
  • At least a 3.0-grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
  • Student must be a Florida resident.

Kopp Scholarship

  • Enrolled full-time in a University of South Florida (USF) Engineering Program
  • At least a 3.0-grade point average on a 4.0 scale
  • Recommendation by an engineering faculty member
  • US citizen or permanent resident (green card holder)

Applications are due February 15, 2024, to your Chapter Representative.

Additional Scholarships

FECON Scholarships

The Florida Professional Engineers in Construction is pleased to announce the availability of a scholarship to be awarded for the 2023-2024 school year. An applicant must:

  • Be currently enrolled or accepted into a Florida university engineering program
  • Be in or entering his/her junior or senior year
  • Have at least a 3.0 average on a 4.0 scale
  • Be recommended by an engineering faculty member
  • Be interested in pursuing a career in the field of construction

Amount of Scholarship: $1,000

If no qualified applications are received, FECON reserves the right not to award a scholarship. The selection of the scholarship recipient is made by the FECON Administrative Committee and is final.

Applications are due by Friday, April 19, 2024.

Kenneth Williams, FAMU-FSU College of Engineering

FEE Scholarships

The Florida Engineers in Education is pleased to announce the availability of a $500 scholarship to be awarded for the 2024 Spring and Fall Semesters. A successful applicant must:

  • Meet admission requirements and be accepted into a University in Florida
  • Declare an interest in majoring in an engineering program
  • Be an active member of the FES chapter of the student’s university
  • Have earned a minimum high school GPA of 2.75, aspiring to 3.0
  • Enrolled as sophomore, junior, or senior at time of award

Application forms should be accompanied by a letter outlining all items that are required for the scholarship.

Applications are due by January 1, 2024 (for the spring semester), and June 1, 2024 (for the fall semester).

FPEG Fellowships

The Florida Professional Engineers in Government is pleased to announce the availability of a $1,000 fellowship. To be eligible an applicant must:

  • Be eligible to be a member of the Florida Engineering Society.
  • Be employed by a government agency in an engineering position.
  • Be enrolled in or accepted by a graduate program to obtain an advanced degree in engineering, engineering management, public administration, public works administration, or business administration (copy of acceptance letter).

If no qualified applications are received, FPEG reserves the right not to award a fellowship or to select a winner from the applications received by the FES scholarship committee. Preference will be given to upper-division engineering students with an interest in working for a government agency.

FPEI Scholarships

The Florida Professional Engineers in Industry is pleased to announce the availability of the Jorge Pardo, PE., scholarship to be awarded for the 2022-2023 school year. An applicant must:

  • Be currently enrolled or accepted into a Florida university engineering program.
  • Be in or entering his/her sophomore, junior or senior year.
  • Have at least a 3.0 average on a 4.0 scale.
  • Be recommended by an engineering faculty member.
  • Be interested in pursuing a career in the engineering field (all disciplines).

Amount of Scholarship: $500
